The Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the Toronto Blue Jays in a thrilling 11-inning Game 7 of what will surely be one of the most memorable World Series matchups in MLB history.

The Dodgers trailed for the entire game, finally tying it with one out in the ninth inning via veteran Miguel Rojas’s solo home run, and took the lead in the top of the 11th via a solo home run from All-Star backstop Will Smith.

After such a nerve-wracking affair, manager John Schneider had a brief response when asked about how he would describe the Dodgers as a team.

“Talented.”

Later on in the press conference, Schneider wanted to ensure that he sent his respect and appreciation to the Dodgers.

“I don’t want to leave without saying congratulations to Dave and the Dodgers. It’s a hard-fought series. It sucks we’re not the last team standing. But to Dave and his staff and his team, congratulations.”

As one may imagine, this will be a tough pill to swallow for Schneider and his team. The skipper detailed what he said to his team after the game in a hard-fought series.

“It’s hard, you know. Had my first team meeting of the year after the game. There’s so many things to unpack there, not just the series as a whole — seven games, two of them go to extras. I thought we played great baseball,” Schneider said. “I feel for the guys. This is a special group of guys. That being said, I am so proud of them — of the entire organization, really, that’s kind of where I’m at. We’ve set a new expectation and a new standard here, and did it with a lot of hard work, did it with a lot of cohesiveness. And man, it’s tough to say bye to this group.”

The Blue Jays won 94 games during the regular season in an ultra-competitive American League East. Toronto also went seven games in the ALCS against the Seattle Mariners, leading up to their seven-game gauntlet in the Fall Classic.
