The Kansas City Chiefs fell back to .500 on the season with a 31-28 loss at the hands of the Dallas Cowboys on Thanksgiving.
With the loss, Kansas City has just a 47% chance to make the playoffs, according to ESPN Analytics. Star quarterback Patrick Mahomes knows there’s no margin for error as the Chiefs need to win-out – and get some help – if they want to make the playoffs and compete for another Super Bowl title.
“You’ve got to win every game now — and hope that’s enough,” Mahomes said of the Chiefs’ attempt to make the postseason with five games left in the regular season. “We’re going to play a lot of good teams coming up,” Mahomes said. “If we’re going to make the playoffs, we’re going to have to win them all. That’s got to be the mindset when we step into the [training facility] when we get back.”

As the Chiefs fight to make the playoffs, the team was called out for giving an “all-time bad contract” to defensive end George Karlaftis. Kansas City sports personality Tucker Franklin questioned, “Has George Karlaftis done anything today?” while watching the team’s loss on Thursday.
Former NFL offensive lineman Geoff Schwartz responded to that question by saying, “It’s an all time bad contract. Makes zero impact on the game.”
The defensive end finished the game with one tackle and one quarterback hit. So far this season he’s accounted for just five sacks after signing a four-year, $93 million contract ahead of the season. Following his team’s loss on Thursday, Karlaftis said, “We’ve got to dig deeper, got to do more, got to look at ourselves in the mirror. Now is where this team is going to figure out what we’re made of.”
