The adorable moment a golden retriever met his new puppy sibling has gone viral, as internet users can’t get enough of his undeniable excitement.
When Cody the golden retriever was introduced to his new sibling, his owner probably would have hoped for some happy tail wags and some curious sniffs to show his curiosity. But what she actually got was far beyond that, as Cody couldn’t stop dancing around and instantly brought his toys over to show them to the new addition.
The precious moment was shared on the dog’s dedicated TikTok account (@codythegoldenboy) showing just how delighted the golden retriever was. The clip shows his owner, from Los Angeles, California, carrying the new pup upstairs in a box, while Cody waited eagerly to greet them.
The older dog could hardly control his excitement as he ran around happily, wagging his tail and even bringing his canine stuffed animal over to the puppy. The caption alongside the video jokes that “Christmas came early for Cody” and he certainly seemed happy about it.
In the days since the video was shared online, it has gone viral already with over 8.3 million views and more than 1.7 million likes on TikTok at the time of writing.

Internet users are obsessed with Cody’s joyful reaction to the new pup, leading many people to praise his way of welcoming the newest member of the family in the most golden retriever way. However, his owner jested on TikTok that the “jury is still out” on whether Cody likes his present after all.
Many people highlighted Cody’s sweet gesture as he took his dog stuffie straight over to the little pup—despite it being much larger than the tiny golden retriever puppy. Cody’s owner even joked in a comment that she had no idea her “only child would be a good sharer so quickly.”
Since the video went viral, thousands of TikTok users have taken to the comments section to praise the golden’s antics, while others shared their own experiences of introducing the resident pet to their new sibling (which didn’t always go to plan). This has led to more than 3,200 comments on the TikTok post so far.
One comment reads: “The dog got a dog for the dog.”
Another TikTok user wrote: “Let’s just say our dog did not react the same way.”
A third person joked: “Most aggressive golden retriever.”
One commenter replied: “he couldn’t contain his big feelings.”
