Human remains discovered in Maine have been identified as a missing mom of two who was last seen walking barefoot down a road four months ago.
Police revealed that the remains uncovered in Blaine late last month belonged to Tomis Hoyt, 36, who vanished from the area in July.
Hoyt’s cause of death hasn’t yet been determined, Maine State Police said Wednesday.
Hoyt, who lived 15 miles away in Presque Isle, was last spotted on surveillance video walking barefoot in ripped jeans down a road on July 13, according to the Aroostook County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities put out a missing person’s alert warning that the mom likely had no money on her at the time.
Her desperate family said Hoyt had struggled with mental illness and addiction but had been sober for nine years at the time of her disappearance, WAGM reported.
“For the love of god, come home. We want you to come home, Tomi,” a relative pleaded at the time.
“We’ll get you into treatment. They will take care of things. Come home, Tomi.”
