49ers Star George Kittle Suffers Season-Ending Achilles Tear
San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle will miss the remainder of the season after suffering a torn Achilles during the NFC wild card game against the Philadelphia Eagles Sunday.
The tight end posted a message on Instagram responding to the injury.
“Football sucks sometimes. But I love it,” Kittle wrote on Instagram. “I love these guys and this team. Heartbroken, but I’ve felt so much love and support from everyone reaching out. I’ll be good. Thank you. We aren’t done yet!
Kittle’s injury came in the second quarter when he tried to turn up field and his right leg gave out.
This setback comes as Kittle was second in receptions and tied for second in receiving touchdowns for the 49ers this season, leaving the 49ers facing a significant challenge in replacing one of the league’s most dynamic tight ends. Recovery from an Achilles tear typically requires several months of rehabilitation, and Kittle’s return will be closely monitored next season.”
The seven-time Pro Bowler missed six games because of a hamstring injury during the season, making it the second-fewest games he’s ever played in a season.
The San Francisco 49ers travel to Seattle to take on the Seahawks Saturday.
