From secret children to natural disasters to cowboys, 9-1-1: Nashville truly has it all — but who are the characters creating all the chaos?
In Us Weekly‘s exclusive first look at the 9-1-1 spinoff, which premieres Thursday, October 9, fans get a glimpse at the ABC drama that stars Chris O’Donnell, Jessica Capshaw, LeAnn Rimes and Kimberly Williams-Paisley. Hailey Kilgore, Michael Provost, Juani Feliz and Hunter McVey make up the rest of the cast.
Set in the Tennessee capital, 9-1-1: Nashville follows the lives of emergency responders — including firefighters, paramedics and police officers — as they face life-threatening situations. The obstacles aren’t just in their work lives but outside of the job as well.
At the center of the show is O’Donnell’s Captain Don Hart, who runs a team of emergency responders with his son, Ryan (Provost). Nashville is full of secrets, and the Hart family is in for a surprise when a chance encounter with McVey’s Blue exposes his connection to Don, who turns out to be his father.
Blue’s mother, Dixie (Rimes), has ulterior motives when convincing him to join the Hart family. Don’s wife, Blythe (Capshaw), meanwhile, quickly picks up on Dixie’s plan.
“The first three or four episodes are going to be big, like super big, and lots of big storms coming in — both figuratively for the characters but also literal,” showrunner Rashad Raisani told TheWrap in September. “We’re going to do what Nashville is known for, among many things, country music and honky-tonks and tornadoes. We’ll probably have all three in our first few episodes.”
Raisani continued: “I loved 9-1-1: Lone Star; I was a part of that from the beginning, and it’s something that was dear to my heart. It was very sad when it ended for me. But this is a wonderful new opportunity that I get to take a lot of the love that we poured into 9-1-1: Lone Star and now pour into 9-1-1-: Nashville as it becomes its own thing. That’s been really fun to be a part of.”
