The Philadelphia Eagles enter Week 7 continuing to look for answers on offense following a poor showing in a 34-17 loss to the New York Giants in front of a crowd of 81,564 fans at MetLife Stadium on “Thursday Night Football.” The Eagles were outgained 366-339 by the Giants, and lost the turnover battle 2-0.

Earlier this week, quarterback Jalen Hurts and running back Saquon Barkley confirmed reports that they met with wide receiver A.J. Brown to discuss how they could help the offense play more efficiently. Brown had shown frustration with the offense following the Eagles’ win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 4.

Per Mike Garafolo of the NFL Network, Brown told the media after Thursday night’s game that he did not recall the meeting his teammates confirmed.

“A.J. Brown asked about the meeting with Jalen Hurts and Saquon Barkley this week repeatedly says he didn’t recall any meeting. When told Hurts and Barkley confirmed it, he says you’d have to talk to them. As for the Eagles’ offense: ‘We’re still trying to find our identity.'”

Brown’s comments were confusing, as Hurts told the media during his news conference on Tuesday that the meeting with Barkley and Brown was about finding ways for the team to win games.

“Yeah, that’s just us talking about the collective, talking about taking ownership for what we can, talking about how we move forward as a team so we can continue to find ways to win games,” Hurts said.

Brown recorded six receptions for 80 yards against the Giants. Hurts finished 24-of-33 passing for 283 yards, one touchdown and one interception. A few days after Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni said he wanted to give Barkley more touches, the star running back finished with 58 yards on 12 carries.

The Eagles have a few extra days to prepare for their next contest on the road against the Minnesota Vikings on Oct. 19. Whether another meeting is needed or not, Philadelphia’s offense must find a way to get on the same page to avoid losing a third straight game.
