The Toronto Blue Jays are set to take on the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 1 of the World Series Friday night at the Rogers Centre.

A familiar face could return for Toronto in All-Star shortstop Bo Bichette, who has been sidelined by a knee injury. While the Blue Jays aren’t certain Bichette will be included on the World Series roster just yet, the 27-year-old was seen taking ground balls at second base.
Blue Jays manager John Schneider discussed the possible position change for Bichette with the Fall Classic set to kick off Friday.
“He looked more than comfortable then. I’ve always said, if you can play shortstop, you can kind of play anywhere. First base is maybe a little bit different. But he looked good then,” Schneider said of Bichette at second. “I think that where we are now, there’s going to be emotions and thoughts and feelings that these guys are going to feel that they haven’t felt regardless of if they just played in Game 7 or if they haven’t played in a while.
“So it’s a little bit of a leap, yeah, for sure. Again, I think just in conversations with Bo, he’s pretty realistic about how he feels and how he will feel if he’s out there. So it’s something we got to continue to work through, really. I think that if he feels comfortable doing it, I’m going to listen to players and trust them. I’ve known Bo for a long. So we’ll see how today goes.”
It appears as though Bichette could be back in Toronto’s lineup and will assume a new position on the diamond if he is indeed available for the World Series. However, Schneider did not rule out Bichette playing shortstop or even serving as the team’s designated hitter.
“We’ll see. We’re kind of coming right down to the wire with it,” Schneider said. “I could see all three of those things happening, to be honest with you. Just kind of have to talk to him after the workout today, see how comfortable he felt doing everything and make the best decision.”
