A three-year-old boy has died in the foyer of a police station south of Brisbane after being involved in a traffic crash with a 22-year-old woman, with officers investigating a possible domestic violence incident involving a man who left the scene.
Emergency services were called to attend a crash on Burnside Road, Ormeau, on the northern Gold Coast towards the M1, shortly before 5am.
Police said a witness to the crash helped a 22-year-old woman and child in the vehicle, transporting them to the Beenleigh Police Station.
“A short time later, the three-year-old child became unresponsive in the foyer of Beenleigh Police Station with officers performing CPR, however the boy died,” police said in a statement.
Police said a 24-year-old Beenleigh man, believed to have also been in the vehicle, left the scene with another child before officers arrived at the scene.
“The man and a one-year-old boy were located by police at an address in Beenleigh around 6.30am. The boy was taken to hospital for treatment,” they said.
Police confirmed the man was assisting police, and multiple crime scene had been established with investigations ongoing. Police also said Beenleigh Station had reopened.
