Brandel Chamblee is a well-known critic of LIV Golf and the players who have chosen to participate in that league. One player who has faced particularly strong criticism is Bryson DeChambeau, who is considered one of the main stars of the Saudi-backed circuit.

This was evident at the beginning of the Ryder Cup broadcasts, where Chamblee serves as a commentator. On Monday, while discussing the American team, the former PGA Tour player took aim at DeChambeau, the only LIV Golf member representing the red, white and blue at Bethpage Black.

Widely recognized for his 2.43 million-subscriber YouTube channel, where he tackles challenges and collaborates with figures from across industries, DeChambeau and his digital success became the focus of one of Chamblee’s pointed remarks.

“He didn’t talk about playing on a team and how much that meant. Nope, he didn’t do that,” Chamblee said on the Ryder Cup Monday broadcasting, as seen in a video posted to X by Fried Egg Golf’s Brendan Porath. “What he did do was talk about his YouTube channel, which, you know, if we want to talk about the numbers that are generated from that, it’s pretty dubious. I have no doubt that bots are generating a lot of those views.”

DeChambeau qualified directly for the American team, thanks in large part to his results in major championships over the past two seasons. In the last eight editions of tournaments in this category, the LIV star has one victory, two second places, and three other top 10 finishes.

Chamblee did not fail to recognize DeChambeau’s exceptional level as a player, but he doubted that this would help him fit in well with any of his teammates.

“There may be some interest as well, but that’s what he wants to talk about,” he said in the same commentary. “Not the team, not the Ryder Cup, and this is one of the reasons why I think he’s going to be such a difficult person to get paired with.

“No doubt he’s one hell of a golfer. No doubt he has his moments of generosity with fans. I’ve heard about him, but he’s an odd duck when he’s trying to blend in with the team, and he has so many potential bulletin board mistakes, and I think he would be a captain’s nightmare.”
