The Cleveland Browns are struggling mightily against the New England Patriots and got more bad news midway through the third quarter.

The one part of Cleveland’s offense that has been working well over the last several weeks is the run game, specifically behind the efforts of rookie running back Quinshon Judkins. However, Judkins went down in New England on Sunday, and may be out for the remainder of the contest.

“Running back Quinson Judkins is officially questionable to return with a shoulder injury,” Myles Simmons of Pro Football Talk reported. “Judkins had to exit the contest midway through the third quarter. He had just 19 yards on nine carries before leaving the game.”

Browns Make Major Decision That Affects Shedeur Sanders’ NFL Future

Judkins had topped 80 yards rushing in four of his six appearances prior to Sunday’s contest against the Patriots. He had amassed 467 rushing yards for five touchdowns on 109 carries along with nine catches for 62 receiving yards heading into Week 8 after missing the season opener.

Behind Judkins on the depth chart are fourth-year veteran Jerome Ford and fellow rookie/fourth-round pick Dylan Sampson. Ford is among a handful of Browns players playing on the final year of his contract, which renders him a potential trade candidate ahead of the NFL’s Nov. 4 deadline.

Another loss on Sunday in New England would drop Cleveland to a record of 2-6 heading into its bye week, which would seemingly increase the chances that the Browns become sellers in the coming days. However, depending on the seriousness of Judkins’ injury, Cleveland may rethink Ford’s immediate future.
