Tampa Bay Buccaneers fans had plenty of reason to be anxious about their team’s injury report on Thursday, especially with questions surrounding quarterback Baker Mayfield.
Fortunately, the Bucs (and their fans) can breathe a sigh of relief about Mayfield.
Tampa is heading into a hostile environment against a feisty Seattle Seahawks team that matches them with a 3-1 record. However, after some consternation following his absence from practice on Wednesday, there is good news out of Tampa regarding Mayfield.

Mayfield was a full participant in the Buccaneers’ practice on Thursday — a great sign for his Week 5 status given his absence from practice the day before. Knee and right biceps injuries sidelined Mayfield for that practice period.
Mayfield, 30, has completed 59.7% of his passes for 904 yards, eight touchdowns, and one interception this season. His rapid progress is encouraging for the Buccaneers. However, there were still plenty of troubling trends on the Buccaneers’ injury report.
Receiver Sterling Shepard returned to full practice participation after a DNP on Wednesday, like Mayfield. However, fellow wide receiver Mike Evans remained a non-participant, as did running back Bucky Irving, who was spotted using crutches and wearing a boot this week.

In total, the Buccaneers had five players log consecutive DNPs to start the week, with one last session to go before they head out to Seattle to take on the Seahawks.
Receiver Chris Godwin participated in back-to-back practices. He could be in for a busy day if Evans is forced to sit out in Week 5, while left tackle Tristan Wirfs upgraded from limited participation on Wednesday to a full session on Thursday. The Buccaneers had seven players upgrade from one day to the next, including Mayfield.
