The Dallas Cowboys are in action against the Chicago Bears, and things are off to a bad start. First, the defense gave up two deep touchdowns in the first quarter to fall behind 14-3.
If that wasn’t bad enough, things have gotten even worse as superstar wide receiver Ceedee Lamb suffered an injury. He was running with the ball, and during the tackle and the defender rolled up on his ankle pretty bad. He went and was looked at by the training staff, and came back out and put his helmet back on like he was going to go back in.
However, Erin Andrews said on the broadcast that he was currently questionable to return, and he took his helmet off. To start the second quarter, he tried to give it a go on the first play. He ran a route, and almost immediately came up limping. He motioned over to the sideline that he needed out, and it appears that he will not be able to return to this game.

This Ankle injury must be pretty bad, definitely not a good thing. pic.twitter.com/gK2oZj04no

Lamb is not only the Cowboys best receiver, he is one of the very best players in the entire NFL. Through the first two weeks, he had at least seven catches and 110 yards in both games. He has been quarterback Dak Prescott’s No.1 target for sometime, and this is going to force other Cowboys receivers to step up.
Losing Lamb is huge for the Cowboys, as they are going to have to be able to score points in this or any game to compete. The defense gave up 450 yards to Russell Wilson last week, and things haven’t been any better Caleb Williams torched them 135 yards and two touchdowns in the first quarters.
With Lamb out, guys like Jake Ferguson and George Pickens are going to have to step up even more. Ferguson has developed a great relationship with Prescott, and he had five catches in the first quarter of the game.
Pickens is still in only his third game playing for the Cowboys, but he is supremely talented and has shown some of that potential already this year.
There are very few receivers in the league like Lamb, and the Cowboys have no one on the roster that can make up for his production by themselves. Look for Prescott to distribute the ball among all his receivers, and to lean on the running game a little more.
