The Kansas City Chiefs have plenty of work to do in the coming months in order to rebound from a disastrous 2025 season and once again become one of the NFL’s premier teams.

Superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes is working his way back from the torn ACL he suffered last season, and they will have to find a way to replace star cornerback Trent McDuffie, who was traded to the Los Angeles Rams a few weeks ago. At the same time, the Chiefs landed running back Kenneth Walker III, the reigning Super Bowl MVP, and he should more than replace the production the outgoing Isiah Pacheco provided them over the last few years.

In the meantime, future Hall of Fame Travis Kelce decided to put off retirement by signing a new three-year, $54.7 million contract. Before training camp starts, he’s expected to tie the knot with pop star Taylor Swift, whom he has been dating since 2023.

But when Chiefs general manager Brett Veach was asked by Peter Schrager if he has been invited to that upcoming wedding, he seemed a bit irked (h/t Heavy Sports).

“We’ll see,” he answers. “Couldn’t say either way.”

Schrager asked, “Is it like no one is even allowed to talk about it? Is it pretty secure? Okay, I can see the uncomfort. The room just got really tight and the air just –”

“That’s like the hardest-hitting question you’ll ever ask me,” Veach responded. “Off the record, you can ask me who we’re picking at nine. I’m gonna tell you who we’re picking at nine. I cannot disclose anything about the wedding.”

Schrager then vented a bit after the interview about how Veach responded to his initial question.

“I don’t want you to accuse me of trying to fish for like a TMZ headline,” he said, “but the way that Brett Veach responded to me asking about whether he was invited to Travis and Taylor’s wedding, it was like I asked him for a government secret. Gosh, he clammed up. Tells me there’s been some strict orders, yay or nay, whether he is invited or not, do not speak on the wedding.”

Multiple reports have indicated that Kelce and Swift will hold their wedding on June 13 in Rhode Island. That could place it somewhere between mandatory minicamp and the start of training camp.

Head coach Andy Reid said on Tuesday that he expects Kelce to participate in minicamp, despite the star’s busy schedule.

Coming off a blowout loss in Super Bowl LIX to the Philadelphia Eagles, Kansas City was hoping to resume its budding dynasty last season. But after starting 5-3 despite not having stud wide receiver Rashee Rice during that time, it ended the season with a six-game losing streak and a 6-11 record. It was the first time that it didn’t reach at least the AFC Championship Game with Mahomes as its full-time starter under center.

Kelce had a nice season with 76 catches, 851 receiving yards and five touchdowns. His 11.2 yards per reception was his highest mark in that category since 2022.
