Despite rampant speculation, Chris Jericho is not expected to make a surprise return to WWE during their upcoming weekend in Montreal. Rumors of “The Ocho” jumping ship intensified recently due to his absence from AEW television and his ties to Canada, where WWE is holding back-to-back major events.
Jericho will be on the opposite side of the continent while SmackDown and Saturday Night’s Main Event take place. Jericho is advertised to perform at the Anaheim Arena in California this Friday, January 23.
The performance is part of JAMM Night, a free concert tied to the annual National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) gathering. Jericho is expected to remain in the Los Angeles area throughout the weekend to attend the convention.
Unless plans change at the last minute, this schedule effectively rules out an appearance on WWE programming this week. Amidst the swirling rumors, AEW President Tony Khan recently addressed Jericho’s status during an interview with Adrian Hernandez. Khan reiterated the veteran’s importance to the promotion.

He also shut down the notion that they have parted ways. Khan expressed gratitude for the “day one” talent.
He credited Jericho as a cornerstone of the company’s foundation. He stated that AEW “simply wouldn’t exist in its current form without Chris Jericho.”
While Jericho rocks out in California, WWE is bringing a massive card to his home country. Saturday Night’s Main Event takes place this Saturday, January 24, at the Centre Bell in Montreal, headlined by a grudge match between Cody Rhodes and Jacob Fatu. Following that event, the roster will fly to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, for the Royal Rumble on January 31, where the “Road to WrestleMania 42” officially begins.
