Chrishell Stause isn’t coming back for season 10 of Selling Sunset.
“I’ve gotten to a place where I don’t need the show financially,” Chrishell, 44, told Bustle in an interview published on Friday, November 7. “I’m lucky to have other forms of employment, because it’s no longer good for my mental health.”
The reality star noted that she had no idea whether the show will return for more seasons.
“If they do continue, I wish them the best. If they do do another one, by then, I may not watch it. I don’t know. But I have no ill will toward the show,” she added. “The show has given me so many opportunities, and I don’t want to be bitter about it, even though I’m leaving not in the way that I would’ve loved.”
Chrishell continued: “I think, after so many hours, I felt like, ‘Sit here, get through it. You’re not a quitter, but you never have to do this again.’”
Chrishell was an original cast member when the show premiered on Netflix in 2019. Over the years, viewers have seen Chrishell’s highs and lows, including her notorious feud with Christine Quinn and other developments in her personal life, such as finding happiness with her now-spouse, G Flip.
Despite coming back season after season, Chrishell remained unsure after wrapping production on season 9, which started with Nicole Young making a controversial comment about her late parents.
The drama escalated when Chrishell’s friendship with Emma Hernan became fractured due to the latter’s romance with boyfriend Blake Davis. Chrishell and Emma ended the season on good terms but fell out of touch by the time the episodes started streaming on Netflix.
“It felt like I was in a good place with everyone — I felt happy and strong about the real estate aspect,” Chrishell told Variety in October. “This tends to happen with this show. When you think you’re going to have a pretty easy season, without fail, those are the ones that end up being the hardest.”
The former soap star clarified that she didn’t have any regrets.
“I liked this season. I don’t think I had a hard season. It’s just the way it culminates with the reunion, and how everything landed,” she noted. “It’s interesting that I went into the season thinking everything was going to be easy. Never say those famous last words.”
Elsewhere in the interview, Chrishell appeared to hint at her exit from the show.
“The reunion was so brutal. In that moment, I realized I will be done here going forward. I wish everyone the best, but this isn’t the place for me. It felt a little bit like a dog pile,” she added. “I don’t know when they will start filming. I hope they never tell me.”
The reunion offered a glimpse at Chrishell’s current dynamic with Emma, 33. While Emma expressed frustration with Chrishell for accusing Blake of using a racial slur and mocking pronouns, Chrishell stood by her decision.
“I am frustrated because I have gotten no accountability from her. I am sorry I put it on social media. What he said, I am sorry I repeated it on social media. I was extremely disappointed that you would still date someone with those views for a year and a half,” she told Emma. “I tried as hard as I could to be there as a friend for you. Every single action I ever made was out of care and love for you. I just want you to be happy and be cared for by somebody and know how to treat you. I am happy to step back.”
