Brisbane City Council has shed 110 full-time employees in the past seven months as a result of the organisation’s savings drive.

But the council says no full-time staff have been made redundant, insisting the job cuts are the result of “attrition”.

Increasing construction costs forced the council to cut spending by 10 per cent in October last year – a move endorsed until the end of this financial year.

The council now has 6806 full-time staff, compared with 6916 in October 2023 – a 1.6 per cent reduction in full-time staff.

There are also 46 fewer contractors employed (464, down from 510), and 24 fewer part-time staff working part time (905, down from 929).

Overall, there are 180 fewer employees working at the council than there were in October 2023.
