A dog mom has delighted the internet with footage of her pooch “bed-rotting” beside her, racking up millions of views on TikTok.

Taylor Stevens (@taylor.a.stevens) shared a video of her black dog lying contentedly next to her in bed, which has garnered 1.4 million likes and 7.2 million views on the platform.

“Every bed rot girl has raised a bed rot dog to accompany them,” she wrote in the text overlaying the video.

“He needs to rot for at least 3 hours a day with me,” Stevens added in the caption.

What Is Bed Rotting?

“Bed-rotting” refers to intentionally spending long periods lying in bed, often as a way to relax, recharge or decompress.

While it has become a viral TikTok trend, experts caution that it should be balanced with healthy sleep hygiene.

According to the Sleep Foundation, prolonged periods in bed, particularly during the day, may disrupt your natural sleep-wake cycle, making it harder to feel refreshed and alert.

How Much Sleep Do Dogs Need?

Dogs are naturally inclined to spend significant time resting. PetMD explains that adult dogs typically sleep for 12 hours a day, while puppies, senior dogs, and larger breeds may need even more. This makes them perfect companions for “bed-rotting” humans.

Why Dogs Love Lying Close to You

The bond between Stevens and her dog isn’t just adorable, it’s instinctual.

According to the James Wellbeloved website, dogs often lie close to their owners for comfort, warmth and a sense of security. This behavior stems from their pack instincts and reinforces the bond between dog and owner.

TikTok users couldn’t get enough of the relatable and heartwarming clip.

“She beside me sleep [right now]I’ll show her this once she’s awake,” one dog owner wrote.

“Sometimes I feel bad [because] bro is always sleeping,” commented another.

“And their little snores are like white noise at this point. I can’t sleep without it,” shared another user.

“My dog gets angry with me if I don’t nap or stay up too late,” said one viewer.

“My dachshund gives me the nastiest side eye if I wake him up before 11 a.m,” joked Nessa.

“My dog and I rotting in bed right now, watching this video,” added Lonnie.
