The Miami Dolphins are hiring former Green Bay Packers defensive coordinator Jeff Haffley as their new head coach after firing Mike McDaniels.
The Dolphins have concluded an extensive head coach search on Monday, landing one of the hottest candidates in the NFL who had interviews with multiple teams.
Miami hired a new general manager, Jon-Eric Sullivan, to replace Chris Grier this month, who is also coming over from the Packers.
Sullivan and Hafley both spent the last two years together with the Packers, one as a coach and the other as an executive.
Hafley was interviewing with the Dolphins for the second time on Monday, and the organization did not let him leave the building before signing on to become the franchise’s new head coach.
Before joining the Packers, Hafley was the head coach of Boston College, going 22-26 in four years. The school moved on to former Houston Texans head coach Bill O’Brien, and Hafley left for the NFL.
Additionally, Hafleuy has some other NFL coaching experience, serving as a defensive backs coach for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Cleveland Browns, and San Francisco 49ers from 2012 to 2018.
