The muted blue suit is both modest and feminine, featuring three-quarter sleeves, a nipped waist, and a knee-length skirt. Like her look from the state visit, Biden accessorized with a pair of matching blue-gray pointy-toe pumps.
It’s no surprise that Biden has leaned into blue lately (she’s worn it in a variety of shades for all but one public appearance this month). As the 2024 Presidential election is within sight, it makes sense that the First Lady is dressing in the color of the Democratic Party. Rewearing outfits is another shrewd, politically loaded choice, positioning her as a woman of the people who actually wears her clothes, and an environmentally conscious one at that.
With the Democratic National Convention, public-facing events, and the possibility of debates on the horizon, it will be interesting to see how else Dr. Jill Biden uses fashion as a political tool in the months to come.
