The injury bug has hit the tight end position yet again.

This week, Arizona Cardinals tight end Trey McBride has already been ruled out with a concussion. Additionally, Cleveland Browns tight end David Njoku will miss his third consecutive game, while Jacksonville Jaguars tight end Evan Engram is doubtful to play in his third straight game.

San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle and Detroit Lions tight end Sam LaPorta are both questionable to play this weekend.

Latest on 49ers Tight End George Kittle’s Week 4 Playing Status

With the influx of tight-end injuries, many fantasy football managers are likely scrambling to find replacements. Have no fear — here are four tight ends you can pick up in free agency and start, among players owned in less than 50 percent of ESPN leagues.

1. Mike Gesicki, Cincinnati Bengals (38.7 percent owned)

Gesicki has 14 receptions for 156 yards on the year for a total of 29.6 points in PPR leagues, which ranks as the seventh-best tight end this season. Even with the return of wide receiver Tee Higgins last week, Gesicki still had four catches for 47 yards. He continues to develop a strong rapport with quarterback Joe Burrow and is a safe start in fantasy leagues.

2. Zach Ertz, Washington Commanders (41.4 percent owned)

Ertz has 12 receptions for 128 yards on the season and is the 10th-ranked tight end in PPR leagues. He continues to be a safety net for rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels, and the Commanders’ offense continues to look better each game. He’s another safe option to get a handful of points.

3. Tyler Conklin, New York Jets (33.9 percent owned)

Conklin exploded in Week 3 during the Jets’ best offensive game of the season. He had five catches for 93 yards, finishing as the TE4 in Week 3. Ride the hot hand and see if Conklin can put together another double-digit performance.

4. Brenton Strange, Jacksonville Jaguars (7.9 percent owned)

Strange has quietly been a solid fantasy option in the absence of Engram. In Week 2, he had three catches for 65 yards (9.5 points). In Week 3, he had two catches for 12 yards and a touchdown (9.2 points). If you’re in need of any sort of scoring from your tight end spot, Strange could be a solid option. There’s a good chance he’s available in your league, too.
