A person has died and four others are fighting for their lives after a massive house fire west of Brisbane this morning.
Fire crews rushed to a house on Darcy Way, Lawnton, in the Moreton Bay region at 5.45am on Sunday to find the house engulfed in flames.
On arrival they found four people on the front lawn, with another found dead inside the house.
Two teenagers – a boy and a girl – and a man and woman in their 30s were treated by 18 paramedics at the scene before being rushed to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in life-threatening conditions.
Firefighters evacuated neighbouring properties at the height of the blaze, but managed to contain the fire about 7am.
The neighbours have since returned to their homes.
A crime scene has been declared and investigations are under way into the cause of the fire.
