A woman’s body was discovered covered in dog bites at a Los Angeles homeless encampment.
Police made the grim discovery after a receiving a call from a resident of the south LA encampment late Wednesday night.
Officers from Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department were called to the scene on the 1100 block of West 87th Street around 11:40 p.m.
LASD Homicide Lt. Steven De Jong told Fox 11 it wasn’t clear whether the unidentified victim was bitten before or after she died.
Officers were seen putting up police tape at the scene, while authorities with animal control and the LA County Fire Department were also present.
A brown puppy was seen was later spotted being carried away from the scene by an officer.
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner will determine the official cause of death.
In January, former NFL player Kevin Johnson was found murdered in a south LA encampment near Compton Creek, possibly the victim of a serial killer who murdered three others in the same camp, police said.
