The Duke Blue Devils (33-2), the tournament’s No. 1 overall seed, survived a first-round scare and play the ninth-seeded TCU Horned Frogs (23-11) in an East Regional second-round matchup on Saturday night in Greenville, South Carolina.

Duke trailed by as much as 13 against No. 16 seed Siena on Thursday before coming back for a 71-65 victory. Isaiah Evans’ layup with 4:25 remaining put the Blue Devils up to stay as Siena, which didn’t make a substitution until 10 seconds remained, ran out of gas with a 23.5% shooting performance in the second half. Cameron Boozer finished with 22 points and 13 rebounds for Duke, with Cayden Boozer adding 19 points and Evans going for 16 points and 10 rebounds. 

Xavier Edmonds got to the rim for the game-winning bucket with four seconds to go as TCU bounced No. 8 seed Ohio State from the tournament with a 66-64 victory. Micah Robinson led the Horned Frogs with 18 points, while David Punch went for 16 points and 13 rebounds, and Edmonds also scored 16 points.

The Blue Devils were a Final Four team last season, while the Horned Frogs haven’t gone to the Sweet Sixteen since 1968. The winner advances to Washington for an East Regional semifinal on Friday. 

Cameron Boozer averages 22.5 points and 10.3 rebounds for Duke, while Evans scores 14.9 points per game. Punch paces TCU with averages of 14.4 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 2.0 blocks, with Edmonds netting 12.7 points per game and Brock Harding dishing out 5.6 assists a night.
