Indiana stopped a two-game losing streak on Tuesday night, improving to 1-1 in Big Ten Conference play with a 113-72 thrashing of visiting Penn State. Lamar Wilkerson went off for 44 points, draining 10-of-15 from 3-point range, in just 24 minutes of action, while Reed Bailey scored 18 points, Tayton Conerway added 17 points and seven assists, and Nick Dorn tossed in 12 points. The Hoosiers shot a blistering 68.9% in the win and canned 17-of-31 from deep.
Kentucky bounced back from consecutive losses as well on Tuesday night, cruising past visiting North Carolina Central 103-67. Jasper Johnson came off the bench for a game-high 22 points, with Otega Oweh adding 21 points and four steals. Malachi Moreno tossed in 14 points, and Collin Chandler dished out eight assists while scoring seven points.
The Hoosiers lost their only true road game this season, dropping a 73-64 decision at Minnesota on Dec. 3 while the Wildcats are 6-1 at home, losing to North Carolina 67-64 on Dec. 2. Kentucky leads the all-time series 32-25, with Indiana winning the most recent matchup 73-67 in the second round of the 2016 NCAA tournament. Wilkerson leads the Hoosiers at 18.8 points per game, while Tucker DeVries gets 17.2 points a night and Sam Alexis averages 5.4 rebounds. Oweh gets 14.4 points per game for the Wildcats, with Denzel Aberdeen averaging 12.4 points and Moreno posting 10.1 points and 7.1 rebounds per outing.
