Losers in four of their last six, the Suns are falling back to what most thought they’d be before the season, a team with a fun-to-watch superstar that doesn’t look like a playoff team. Their last game was against Steph Curry and the Golden State Warriors in a return match from two days earlier in which the Suns defeated the Warriors 99-98. In another close game, it was the Warriors coming out on top 119-116, despite Devin Booker’s 38-point effort. With a chance to tie the game, Booker didn’t touch the ball on the final possession, leading to the loss.
After surging up the Western Conference standings, the Lakers have settled into an underwhelming trend, going 4-4 over their last eight games. Their last game was an uninspired 103-88 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers, in which, aside from LeBron James’s 3-for-7 from the 3-point line, the team shot a ghastly 3-for-31 (9.6%) from beyond the arc. James scored 36 points, but got little help from the others as Luka Doncic scored 12 in just under 20 minutes and Marcus Smart and Jake LaRavia combined to go 0-for-13 from the 3-point line.
