TikTok star Abby Howard suffered a pregnancy loss after an unexpected complication.

“At a routine pregnancy appointment, our doctor could not find a heartbeat,” Abby, 26, and husband Matt Howard wrote in a joint Instagram post on Saturday, September 27. “Shortly after they sent us in for an ultrasound where the technician said words we will never forget, ‘I am so sorry I do not have good news.’”

They added, “That is when we got the gender reveal we never hoped for and also the news that our baby had a genetic condition that took her life around 17 weeks gestation. The news felt unimaginable.”

Matt and Abby announced in August that they were expecting their third baby. The couple also share sons Griffin, 3, and August, 2.

In light of the tragic miscarriage, the Howards further said on Saturday that they plan to take a social media hiatus. (Neither Matt nor Abby further elaborated on their unborn child’s diagnosis.)

“The grief is absolutely devastating, but we feel so much gratitude for the time that we did get to have with her,” their social media statement added. “And we still have hope. Hope has continued to show up for us in so many ways. For now we will grieve and continue to think of ways to honor her life offline.”

They concluded, “Thoughts and prayers are more than welcome. Thank you everyone for celebrating this precious life with us for the past 17 weeks.”

Many of the couple’s influencer friends have supported them in the comment section.

“I am so sorry, Abby. This is by far the hardest thing a mama (and dad) can go through,” Little People, Big World alum Tori Roloff wrote. “I am praying for your strength! It always comforted me to know the first face my baby saw was Jesus, and hopefully that comfort you too!! Love you friend.”

Jill Duggar, Lindsay Arnold, Sadie Robertson, Devin Cordle, Sam Patterson and Emilie Kiser also offered their condolences.

“I’m so incredibly sorry,” Kiser, whose 3-year-old son died in May after drowning in her family pool, wrote. “Sending you love and comfort. Here for you.”

Kiser, 26, also took a social media break after son Trigg’s death, returning to her platform earlier this month.

“Hey you guys, don’t even know what to say,” Kiser said in a September 20 video shared via TikTok. “It’s been a minute since I’ve obviously come on here. Not gonna lie, I’m really nervous right now. I don’t really know if there’s any right way to start this video, but I’m going to do my best.”

She added, “I have missed getting to chat with you guys everyday. I really do love this community we have here, and I hope that in coming back and sharing what I choose to, I can reconnect with you guys and, hopefully, help anyone going through a similar situation. I have been offline for the last little bit. I’m just doing my best every day to figure this out, figure my life out. I’m just taking it day by day. I’m going to do the same with my content.”

Emilie and her husband, Brady Kiser, also share son Teddy, who was born in March.
