Jennifer Lopez is getting candid about navigating “challenging relationships” amid her divorce from Ben Affleck.

In a new interview with Variety published on Wednesday, January 1, Lopez, 55, drew parallels between her life and that of Judy Robles, whom she is portraying in the new film Unstoppable. Judy is the mother of wrestler Anthony Robles, who went on to conquer the wrestling world after being born with one leg.

The “Jenny From the Block” singer told the outlet that she and Judy are “kindred spirits” who “both grew up Latina in this country.”

“We both had children and have hopes and dreams for them,” Lopez said, referring to her 16-year-old twins Max and Emme, whom she shares with ex-husband Marc Anthony.

Further sharing their similarities, the “On the Floor” artist noted that both she and Judy “had challenging relationships, which left us holding our families together.”

Though Lopez did not specify which romances she was talking about, she has famously been married four times and engaged six times.

As pop culture enthusiasts know, Lopez is currently dealing with the fallout of her fourth marriage. Two years after tying the knot with Affleck, 52, the Maid in Manhattan star filed for divorce from the Oscar winner in August 2024.

Lopez has been candid about her split from Affleck, telling comedian Nikki Glaser in October 2024 that she doesn’t regret the pain she went through following their breakup.

“That doesn’t mean it didn’t almost take me out for good. It almost did,” the Hustlers star shared with Glaser for Interview magazine. “But now, on the other side of it, I think to myself, ‘F***, that is exactly what I needed. Thank you, God. I’m sorry it took me so long. I’m sorry that you had to do this to me so many times.'”

Prior to her marriage to Affleck, whom she was initially engaged to in the early 2000s before calling off their first wedding, Lopez was married to Ojani Noa for less than a year between 1997 and 1998, Cris Judd from 2001 to 2003, and Marc Anthony from 2004 to 2014.

Affleck, for his part, was married to Jennifer Garner from 2005 to 2018 and shares three children with the 13 Going on 30 star.
