The San Francisco 49ers have already made one big move during NFL free agency, inking future Hall of Fame wideout Mike Evans to a three-year deal. They also made some smaller moves to add depth, but the defense could still use some improvement.

The 49ers were at the bottom of the barrel in the NFL last season when it came to getting after opposing quarterbacks. San Francisco managed just 20 sacks in 2025, the fewest in the league and six fewer than the Jets, who were the next closest team.

Adding insult to injury, the 49ers lost edge rusher Bryce Huff this offseason to a surprise retirement. He led the team with four sacks and 46 pressures. Injuries up front really hampered the 49ers’ ability to get pressure, as star defensive end Nick Bosa and first-round pick Mykel Williams both suffered season-ending injuries early in the year.

Now, the 49ers could pair the younger Bosa with his older brother, Joey. As a matter of fact, the Bosa family seems intrigued by the idea,

Cheryl Bosa, the mother of the Bosa brothers, shared a photo to her Instagram story on Saturday featuring the brothers donned in the 49ers red and gold uniforms.

This isn’t the first time rumors of a Bosa brothers reunion surfaced. When Joey Bosa was with the Chargers, trade rumors to San Francisco consistently swirled.

Last offseason, the pair were expected to finally unite in the Bay Area, but the Buffalo Bills snuck in and signed Bosa to a one-year, $12.6 million deal.

Now, the sides appear destined to join forces. Nick Bosa is doing his part as well, restructuring his contract with the 49ers to clear up more than $17 million next season, giving the team $42.24 million in cap space. The team also isn’t opposed to crowd-pleasing additions after bringing back fan-favorite linebacker Dre Greenlaw on a one-year deal this season.

A deal could come together at any time, but right now, it appears to be a matter of when, not if, the Bosa brothers will team up in San Francisco.
