Justin Timberlake’s mugshot is raising eyebrows online, with social media users asking: “why is this the most high quality mug shot ever?”
The pop star was arrested early Tuesday morning in Sag Harbor, Long Island, on a DWI charge.
According to a statement released by the Sag Harbor Village Police Department, Timberlake was pulled over after running a stop sign and swerving out of his lane, with officers tailing the 43-year-old for roughly a mile before making the arrest.
The NSYNC star refused a breathalyzer test. He was released without bail later that day, and is scheduled to appear in court on July 26—putting a planned concert in Krakow, Poland, in jeopardy.
It wasn’t long after news of Timberlake’s arrest broke that his mugshot went viral. However, fans felt the photo was exceptionally high-quality compared to other celebrity mugshots to take over the internet.
“Why is this the most high quality mug shot ever?” joked @mannyfidel on X, formerly Twitter. “They said get the Nikon out we’re getting this [m***********] in 4K.”

The rapper was arrested in Miami on Thursday morning. According to the Miami Beach Police Department, the 33-year-old was taken in for “disorderly intoxication and trespassing” at the Miami Beach Marina.
“I don’t think Travis Scott would hate me if I said Justin Timberlake had the better DWI mugshot,” wrote @relativeread.
“Why was Justin Timberlake’s mugshot taken in 4k crystal clarity, to where you can literally see the light reflection in his blue eyes, but Donald Trump’s mugshot was shot on a 2009 camera phone?” said @RealDylanD1, referencing the former president’s mugshot from August.
The Republican politician was indicted on racketeering charges related to his alleged attempts to overturn the 2020 general election. The 78-year-old voluntarily surrendered himself to the police Fulton County Jail in Atlanta, Georgia, where the mugshot was taken.
“Trump’s is better,” wrote @grumpybbee, while @anumccartney said: “You know what’s going to happen to Justin Timberlake’s mugshot? It’s gonna be memed.”
