Princess Kate Middleton carried on the annual tradition of her “Together at Christmas” carol service.

The Princess of Wales, 43, hosted the Friday, December 5, event at Westminster Abbey. She stepped out in a gorgeous green coat adorned with black fur and was in the Christmas spirit as she attended alongside husband Prince William and kids, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis. The family stopped by a decorated Christmas tree before heading into the service.

While inside, Kate crossed paths with actor Eugene Levy who was in attendance after he hosted William on his Apple TV+ show The Reluctant Traveler earlier this year. Photos showed Kate shaking hands and having a laugh with the actor.

This is the fifth year Kate has hosted the carol service, which was initially launched in 2021 to honor those who supported their communities during the Covid-19 pandemic. The event has since become an annual tradition to celebrate inspirational individuals who show kindness in their communities. In years past, Kate has been joined by other members of the royal family, including Prince William, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, Prince Louis, King Charles III and Queen Camilla.

At the 2025 carol service, which will be televised in the U.K. on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, Kate reflected on the holiday season in a touching letter to guests.

“At its heart, Christmas speaks of love taking form in the simplest, most human ways. Not in sentimental or grand gestures, but gentle ones. A moment of listening, a word of comfort, a friendly conversation, a helping hand, presence,” she wrote. “These simple acts of care might seem small, but they contribute to the beautiful tapestry of life to which we all belong. Christmas is a time that reminds us how deeply our lives are woven together. Just as the roots of trees share strength beneath the soil, unseen but vital, so too do we. We are drawn by an instinctive pull towards belonging and connection.”

Kate went on to emphasize the importance of coming together at Christmastime.

“Even with all the rushing around and familiar traditions, there is a quieter sense of what it calls out in us. There is a softness to the season that reminds us of something easy to forget; that what we do matters. Our words, our choices and even the ways we look out for one another — they ripple outward, touching lives we may never see,” she continued. “At a time when life can sometimes feel fragmented or uncertain, the Christmas season invites us to remember the power of reaching out to one another with generosity of heart, understanding and hope.”

Kate added that her carol service “offers a moment of collective togetherness, a chance to celebrate the spirit of community and service and to honor the visible and invisible bonds that unite us all.”

“The time, care and compassion you give, often quietly and unspoken, and without any expectation or recognition, make an extraordinary difference to the lives of others,” she wrote. “As the year draws to a close, I hope this season brings you moments of peace and clarity, and that you too feel surrounded by the same love and care that you offer so freely.”

Kate concluded her letter by thanking guests for “the warmth you have given and the kindness you have shown and the quiet constant light you bring to others.” She also wished them “a very happy Christmas.”

As Kate prepares to celebrate the holidays with her family, she marks the end of another monumental year, which saw her announce her cancer remission in January and maintain her focus on her royal duties and her family.
