Hulu is investing in a second season of Kim Kardashian‘s All’s Fair despite an onslaught of negative reviews in the wake of the show’s release.

The streaming service announced the renewal on Monday, November 24, referring to Ryan Murphy‘s legal drama as “the biggest Hulu original scripted series premiere in 3 years,” according to the first three days of streaming. The series launched at No. 1 on the Hulu Top 15 Today list “and has maintained a spot every day since” its debut.

Hulu noted that All’s Fair has also “dominated social conversation with more than 10 billion impressions to date” as new episodes continue to premiere Tuesdays ahead of the two-part finale on December 9.

All’s Fair, which premiered earlier this month, follows an all-female law firm run by Allura (Kardashian), Liberty (Naomi Watts), Emerald, Milan (Teyana Taylor) and Dina Standish (Glenn Close). In addition to the star-studded main cast, there are appearances from Matthew Noszka, O-T Fagbenle, Kathleen Garrett, Ed O’Neill, Judith Light, Steven Pasquale, Tamara Taylor and Lorraine Toussaint. The guest cast also includes Elizabeth Berkley, Grace Gummer, Brooke Shields and more.

Monday’s renewal might come as a surprise to some after All’s Fair received overwhelmingly negative reviews when the first three episodes debuted. At the time, Kardashian poked fun at the commentary online as more installments continued to air.

“Kim is so happy with how much the fans love the show and it’s still No. 1 on Hulu [for the] third day,” a source exclusively told Us Weekly earlier this month. “She has joked that this is actually getting more people to watch it. She’s incredibly driven and knows one project doesn’t define her.”

Kardashian addressed the possibility of the show not finding its audience while filming scenes for her hit Hulu reality series The Kardashians.

“It is crazy that this journey is over. Here’s the thing with these shows, it is not guaranteed that it’s gonna be a hit,” she noted in a November episode. “So you put your heart and soul and your time into something and it’s like, ‘What if it doesn’t hit?’ Then what was this for?”

Kardashian attempted to stay positive about All’s Fair.

“Obviously with everything in life, you got to take risks to get there but I have taken all the risks,” she continued. “I think doing a scripted show is more pressure. There’s definitely a judging meter of like, ‘You can act and you are a bad actress.’ Being on a reality show, you’re just living your life. … To get people to like a character is probably easier than to get people to like you for who you are.”

In addition to All’s Fair, Kardashian has also collaborated with Murphy on American Horror Story: Delicate.

“I am, of course [taking classes],” she told Variety in April 2023 about her dedication to the role. “You know, it’s a challenge [but] I like to challenge myself. We start shooting my stuff later this month but production [has] already started and I’m so excited. I can’t [say too much] but I’m excited. I think it’s really fun to step outside your comfort zone and try something new and grow. I’m so excited for the experience.”

All’s Fair airs Tuesdays on Hulu.
