As the Los Angeles Lakers worked on climbing out of their losing streak, the superstar LeBron James was putting together an impressive performance during the second leg of his first back-to-back set.
However, LeBron does have a minor setback that the Lakers will have to monitor. According to the Lakers’ head coach, JJ Redick, LeBron “took a hit to the quad” late in the game.
As a result, the star forward is already receiving treatment on it right after the Lakers’ blowout win over the Atlanta Hawks.
Are the Lakers Worried About LeBron’s Status Moving Forward?
So far, Redick expects James to be just fine. While the veteran is getting treatment on his quad, the head coach suggests that LeBron is gearing up to be ready to play on Thursday. Of course, his final status will depend on how his body responds on the Lakers’ day off on Wednesday.
“His competitive stamina is off the charts,” Redick told reporters.
LeBron finished Tuesday’s game with 31 points on 12-20 shooting from the field and 5-6 shooting from the free throw line. He registered a double-double with 10 assists and came just one rebound shy of a triple-double.
The Lakers dominated the Hawks with a 141-116 victory. It was the ideal bounce-back game after the Lakers fell way short against the struggling Sacramento Kings on Monday night.
Despite the recent string of losses, the Lakers are in solid shape. The fact that the 41-year-old LeBron could participate in his first back-to-back of the year was a promising sign. Last week, James told reporters that every back-to-back is up in the air, even when he’s healthy. He was cleared after a 22-point outing in Sacramento.
This season, LeBron is averaging 22 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 6.8 assists. The Lakers are 24-14 heading into their Thursday night action against the Charlotte Hornets.
