A Ring camera captured a late‑night moment in a blended family—and it’s going viral for all the right reasons.

Mom Aaron Fulk (@aaronhaden) shared the footage in a reel on Instagram which shows her daughter Lilly being coached through cheer tryout prep by Ryan Robertson—the woman she calls Lilly’s “bonus mom.”

Aaron explained that 11 years earlier, Lilly gained another trusted adult in her life. On this particular night, Ryan stopped by late to help Lilly practice because, as Aaron joked, “this is her department.”

Aaron said she didn’t fully appreciate the moment until hours later. Lilly had been at cheer clinic later than expected, and when she finally arrived home around 9:30 p.m., Aaron rushed upstairs so Ryan and Lilly could get started right away.

It wasn’t until that night, after everyone had gone to bed, that Aaron checked a Ring cam notification and noticed the footage of the evening.

“I just was filled with gratitude that my daughter had Ryan to step in and help her,” Aaron told Newsweek. “It was really going to help Lilly accomplish her big dream of becoming a high school cheerleader at tryouts the next night.” The next day, Lilly did just that.

The relationship between Aaron, her ex‑partner Vince Robertson and Ryan didn’t happen by accident. Aaron said that from the start of co‑parenting, she and Vince agreed to communicate openly about new partners and introductions.

Because Vince and Ryan had known each other since college, Aaron trusted his judgment when it came to bringing Ryan into Lilly’s life.

Aaron remembers meeting Ryan for the first time at Lilly’s second birthday party at Chuck E. Cheese. Even at aged two, Lilly had a lot of hair which required help. That’s when Ryan stepped in.

“I just remembered thinking how cute Lilly looked and knowing Ryan had taken some great effort to really make it a very special day for Lilly,” Aaron said. “It was easy to then get along with Ryan because I think we both just had Lilly’s best interest in mind.”

Ryan said she feels privileged to have been part of Lilly’s life for more than a decade. Having grown up in a blended family herself, she understands the value of showing up consistently.

“My purpose is to ensure she feels she has me as a resource and a support, to actively support her mom and dad, and to be ready to step in whenever I’m needed, just like with cheerleading,” Ryan told Newsweek.

“I’m truly grateful for the supportive dynamic my husband and Aaron cultivate, which encourages my involvement and ensures that, together as a parenting unit, we always show up for Lilly in the best way we possibly can.”

Aaron’s reel has gone viral on Instagram, clocking up more than 340,000 views. Many users praised all three parents for putting Lilly first.

Vince said seeing everyone rally around their daughter was deeply meaningful. Watching Ryan share her experience in a way that helped Lilly reach a goal filled him with pride and gratitude.

“The way we all came together to support her and to be sure she has what she needs to be successful was awesome,” he told Newsweek.

For this article, all three parents were looped into the same email exchange, allowing them to read and reflect on one another’s responses.

“I also loved reading these responses and quotes in this email—it brings tears of joy to my eyes,” Vince said.
