When a stranger calls….off your vacation.

A devastated woman is issuing a warning to other travelers after her trip of a lifetime was canceled by a “very sad individual” on the internet. Melissa Doherty recalled her tragic plight in a video blowing up on TikTok.

“I just think that is the lowest of the low,” the crestfallen globetrotter vented in the clip. “How jealous can you be?”

Doherty recalled how she booked a Qantas flight from Cairns, Australia to Singapore for a getaway that she’d “been looking forward to” for her “whole life.”

Unable to contain herself, the ecstatic traveler had reportedly uploaded a TikTok video with her entire itinerary, not thinking that someone could take advantage of personal info.

“The booking reference was in it and, yes, obviously my last name is on my TikTok,” explained Doherty, whose dreams of a perfect trip crashed and burned shortly after posting.

“Somebody took it upon themselves and cancelled my flight,” fumed the content creator.

Doherty said she became aware of her torpedoed travel plans when she received an email from Qantas stating her refund was “in process.”

Doherty initially assumed that the reimbursement was because her flight had been cancelled and thought that she’d simply rebook the trip. However, she noticed something was awry after she only got refunded $800 AUD ($520) despite forking over $1,200 AUD ($780) on the trip.

When she called Qantas over the issue, the carrier initially informed her that the cancellation had been done over the phone. But then, per a follow-up video, she later discovered that it had been carried out through the site and that there was “nothing else” they could do.

Doherty said that the troll’s dastardly deed made her “sick” to her stomach, fuming, “I feel like I’m going to vomit at any given moment.”

She said that in retrospect she knows she shouldn’t have posted her “details on social media,” but claimed she was too amped to resist in the moment.

“I feel like a lot of people would do the same thing, I was excited, I just posted it, I didn’t think anything of it,” said Doherty.

The video drew mixed reactions with many sympathizing with the flyer’s plight.

“Ugh that’s so frustrating I’m sorry that happened!!” said one commiserator.

“I’ve been watching your story, I’m so sorry people are aholes, I’m glad your getting ur money back, and plan your trip any ways you deserve a break!” said another.

However, some trolls saw the humor in her predicament, with one writing, “To be fair that is hilarious.”

“This is what is wrong with sharing all your information on social media,” scolded another.

Thankfully, Doherty claims that the airline is working to refund her the remaining money and that she’s since “rebooked the flights.”

In light of the incident, she is warning others not to “trust people on the internet.”
