Mayor Zohran Mamdani called to abolish ICE during a gushing interview on ABC’s “The View” on Tuesday.
The socialist mayor told the hosts that he doesn’t see agents with federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement doing anything to help public safety.
“I am in support of abolishing ICE. What we see is an entity that has no interest in fulfilling its stated reason to exist,” Mamdani said.
Mamdani claimed deportation raids would “rip” apart the Big Apple.
“We are talking about people whose crimes simply seems to be being in New York City and if they make good on this threat and would rip the civic fabric of the city apart,” Hizzoner argued.
He also doubled down on calling the shooting of Renee Good by an ICE agent “murder” – and making it clear he would uphold the city’s sanctuary city laws in the face of threats of funding cuts from the Trump administration.
“What I’ve said is that our values and our laws – they’re not bargaining chips,” he said.
This is a developing story.
