A forecast map from AccuWeather shows what weather conditions each region of the U.S. can expect this weekend.

According to AccuWeather’s map, the Northeast is in for chilly weather, while showers are forecast for parts of the northwestern U.S.

Dry weather is anticipated across the Southwest, while the Dakotas, Nebraska, Minnesota, Iowa and portions of Montana and Wyoming are expected to experience balmy conditions.

Meanwhile, central and southeastern states are bracing for a weekend storm.

According to AccuWeather, the storm is expected to develop late this week over Oklahoma, Texas, Missouri, Arkansas and Louisiana, then push east from the Plains on Friday, reaching Virginia and extending south into Georgia and Florida as the weekend progresses.

The outlet noted that “some uncertainty remains” about whether the system will shift far enough north to bring snow and ice to portions of the Ohio Valley and the interior Northeast.

“While there is not a large area of Arctic air to the north, there is enough cold air for some precipitation to be snow and ice. At this time, the greatest risk for any snow and ice will be from the mid-Atlantic into southern portions of New England,” AccuWeather senior director or forecasting operations Dan DePodwin said in an advisory shared with Newsweek on Thursday.

“Extensive snowpack from the Midwest to Northeast can sometimes delay warmer air from arriving close to the ground. This can increase the risk of ice, especially when precipitation begins, even if the majority of the event is rain. It will likely not be cold enough in the coastal cities of the Northeast, from Washington, D.C., to Boston, to support a major snow or ice event. However, some snow and ice are possible in this area, especially from New York to Boston.”

AccuWeather forecast 1 to 4 inches of rain across Texas, Oklahoma and southeastern Kansas through to Georgia and the Carolinas from Friday to Sunday.

It also said thunderstorms could break out from Friday afternoon into the night, with the highest likelihood of strong, gusty and occasionally severe activity on Saturday stretching from central Texas and southeastern Oklahoma across Louisiana, Arkansas and western Mississippi.

Some of these storms could generate damaging winds, hail, flooding rains and even a tornado, AccuWeather said, adding that the threat may continue farther east on Sunday, and warning that Southern states could see travel delays as a result of heavy rains and thunderstorms.
