McD’s customers are really happy to have this meal.
McDonald’s launched a special Valentine’s Day pairing today, offering their first-ever McNugget Caviar kits.
But excited fans were left fuming when the kits, featuring crispy Chicken McNuggets and premium Baerii Sturgeon caviar, sold out within minutes — with some complaining that the website crashed.
The McDonald’s McNugget Caviar kit was only available online at McNuggetCaviar.com, free of charge, while supplies lasted.
Each kit contained a 1oz tin of McNugget Caviar, $25 Arch Card to use for Chicken McNuggets, crème fraîche and a Mother of Pearl caviar spoon.
Paramount’s Baerii caviar retails for $95 for one ounce, so the free ounce is a steal for caviar lovers.
According to McDonald’s, it’s all one needs for “an upscale yet effortless celebration.”
McDonald’s told Food & Wine that the idea was inspired by their fans: “They’ve been pairing Chicken McNuggets with caviar long before we made it official.”
It seems McD’s forecasted correctly, as the 750 free kits that went up for sale at 11 a.m. ET on Feb. 10 sold out within minutes — with some now turning up on resale site eBay.
The brand told The Post in a statement, “The fan excitement was so real it caused the kits to sell out very quickly, leading some to experience site disruptions.”
The website’s old-out announcement suggested jilted customers instead elevate their nuggets with the chain’s limited-edition sweet and spicy Hot Honey sauce.
However, fans did not appreciate McD’s response, accusing the site of facilitating “bots” and other disingenuous buyers.
“This is next-level gaslighting,” declared one would-be McCaviar owner. “If McDonald’s cannot keep their ice cream machine working for more than 11 minutes why did we think their website could handle millions of us trying to get free caviar kits?”
“McNugget caviar kits only went to bots & influencers huh?” another asked, posting a screenshot of the caviar kits listed on eBay for $90.
At the time of reporting, order confirmations for the McDonald’s McNugget Caviar kits are being listed on eBay for as much as $400.
