If scoring a ticket to the 2028 Olympics feels out of reach, there’s another way in — no purchase required.

The Los Angeles 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games are calling on volunteers, offering fans a chance to be part of the action without paying for a seat.

Through the official LA28 Volunteer Program, people can sign up to support community events leading up to the Games and roles during the Games — by filling out the interest form on the official program page.

The program, presented by Delta Air Lines, aims to rally the community and support causes like wildfire recovery, hunger relief, youth sports, and communities in need, according to the LA28 website.

There are two main ways to get involved — volunteering in the community now or registering your interest in Games-time roles in 2028.

For those eyeing the Olympic experience itself, applications for Games-time volunteer positions are expected to open in the summer of 2026.

Meanwhile, prospective volunteers can register online and will be contacted by email as opportunities arise.

Volunteers won’t be limited to Los Angeles. While current community roles focus on the greater LA area, Games-time opportunities will be available at all venue locations, including outside the city.

A few things to keep in mind: volunteers must be at least 18 and proficient in English. They must register individually, spots can’t be transferred, and not everyone who signs up will be selected.

Still, getting involved early could help. Community volunteering isn’t required for Games-time roles, but could strengthen your chances when applications open.

On the flip side, LA residents say they’re disappointed and furious over what they describe as unreasonable presale prices as the organizing committee begins rolling out ticket drops.

Currently, ticket prices range from around $100 to above $1,000 per person, depending on the sport. Pricing for closing ceremony tickets is $4,961.20 per ticket.

According to LA28, more tickets will be released in future drops, along with a resale market set to open in 2027, though tickets are not available for every individual time-slotted session.

The LA28 Olympic ticket sales continue with General Drop 1 from April 9–19, 2026, with future releases and a verified resale program starting in 2027.

The 2028 Summer Olympics will be held in Los Angeles, California, from July 14 to July 30, 2028. Known as the LA28 Games, the event will use existing venues across Southern California, including the LA Memorial Coliseum and SoFi Stadium, with some events taking place in Oklahoma City.
