Phoenix Raceway has named Whitney Cummings as the Honorary Starter for the upcoming NASCAR Cup Series Championship Race. The event, set to take place on Sunday, November 10, at the iconic Phoenix Raceway, promises to be a great race.

Cummings, a respected multi-talented entertainer known for her work in television, stand-up comedy, and writing, is excited to take the reins for the Sunday.

“What’s more exhilarating than watching a NASCAR race up close and personal? I am psyched to be the Honorary Starter for the NASCAR Cup Series Championship Race in Phoenix. I find it endearing that they designed their checkered flag specifically to match my past,” she said in a press release sent to Newsweek Sports.

Whitney Cummings is well-versed in engaging a strong audience, having built a successful career that spans various facets of entertainment. Recognized for her roles in the NBC series “Whitney” and co-creating the Emmy-nominated “2 Broke Girls,” Cummings has become a familiar face in the world of comedy and television.

Her recent projects include hosting a four-part game show on Max titled “Fast Friends,” as well as releasing her latest stand-up special, “Mouthy,” in November 2023. Beyond screen and stage, she is an accomplished author with her memoir, “I’m Fine… And Other Lies,” and the voice behind the podcast “Good for You.”

Phoenix Raceway, situated in Avondale, Arizona, has been a cornerstone of motorsports since its inception in 1964. Known for hosting NASCAR Championship Weekend since 2020, the Raceway is an iconic venue that draws fans from across the nation with its high-caliber motorsport events and all-around versatility. In 2018, Phoenix Raceway underwent substantial renovations to improve racing at the venue, moving the start/finish line and reconfiguring the track layout.

Latasha Causey, President of Phoenix Raceway, described Cummings as a perfect fit for the event’s vibrant atmosphere.

The schedule for this race weekend runs from November 8 to November 10. The weekend kicks off with the CRAFTSMAN Truck Series Championship Race, followed by the ARCA Menards Series West finale. As the excitement builds, the Xfinity Series Championship Race on Saturday will pave the way for the crowning moment of the NASCAR Cup Series Champion on Sunday.
