The transfer portal will open up on Friday, Jan. 2, and Notre Dame and LSU are among the top college teams who will be vying for talent to add to their rosters.
Now, Notre Dame and LSU are reportedly both interested in a former Big 10 wide receiver who’s back on the market.
The two teams, according to a report from Ryan Fravel of the Week 0 Podcast, are both interested in Michigan State football transfer wide receiver Nick Marsh.
In a post on Tuesday, Dec. 30, Fravel said the two schools are “teams to watch” for the former Spartans star wide receiver. Marsh is the No. 13 overall player and No. 3 wide receiver in the transfer portal. In two years at Michigan State University, Marsh clocked more than 1,300 receiving yards and nine touchdowns. The wide receiver will have two years of eligibility left.
Marsh is a former four-star prospect from River Rogue, Michigan, and helped keep the Spartans alive for the past two season. He entered the transfer portal after MSU fired head football coach Jonathan Smith after the 2025-26 season and hired Pat Fitzgerald.
If he ends up at Notre Dame, Marsh will be going up against his former team. Michigan State and Notre Dame are scheduled to play each other on Sept. 19, 2026.

In a piece out on Monday, Dec. 29, Ryan Roberts of A to Z Sports says he sees Marsh going to LSU.
“There will be a ton of suitors for Nick Marsh, who brings impact size and a crazy catch radius in the boundary,” he notes in the piece. “Notre Dame is another school expected to make a big push, but the track record for LSU at the position could be hard to beat. Head coach Lane Kiffin would do wonders for Marsh and his potential.”

Andre Champagne of Tiger Rag also sees Marsh as a good LSU fit, stating that he’s “one of the bigger targets that the Tigers dearly missed on this year’s team. Marsh has the ability to not only be a vertical threat, but also to win in one-on-one coverage.”
