Global style-tech brand Oblige participated in the ‘Seamless Connections: Design, Craft, and Tech’ exhibition held at Sinchon Box Square on December 19, showcasing their groundbreaking ‘Inclusive Hearing Aid Jewelry.’
Oblige’s ‘Inclusive Hearing Aid Jewelry’ transcends being a mere auditory assistance device, transforming into a design item that reflects individuality and taste. It simultaneously offers beauty and functionality to individuals with hearing impairments and is recognized as a powerful tool for reshaping perceptions around disability through the fusion of technology and design.
Jaimy Yunjin Chang, CEO of Embargo Media and head of the Oblige brand, stated, “The hearing aid jewelry is an innovative product that combines aesthetics and functionality, embodying the value of design for an inclusive society. This exhibition is not just about introducing a product, but also about opening a new dialogue surrounding disability and technology.”
She further emphasized, “Through aesthetic, functional, and high-quality research aimed at improving the lives of people with hearing impairments, our long-term goal is to enhance welfare experiences for individuals with hearing loss and propose new possibilities for digital welfare. We aim to develop this into a GovTech system that can be applied not only in South Korea but also in global markets.”

Meanwhile, ‘Embargo Media’, which operates Oblige, is an AI agent startup that was established after its idea was selected at the ‘National Happiness Service Startup Competition’, organized by the Ministry of Health and Welfare, Korea Social Security Information Service, and Dongguk University. The company received funding support for commercialization following its selection.
In October, the company was chosen as a runner for the ‘COMEUP’ program by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, where it unveiled its AI-based services for the first time at the ‘Fly Asia 2024 Startup Expo.’ On November 28th, it was also recognized as a successful case of LifeTech research at the 3rd Research Festival of Ewha Womans University’s College of New Industry Convergence, where it presented its AI-based welfare technology research results.
