Super Bowl Opening Night was held Monday, with players and coaches from the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks speaking to the media ahead of Sunday’s showdown in Super Bowl LX at Levi’s Stadium.

Both teams feature premier players making their Super Bowl debuts, including Patriots second-year quarterback Drake Maye, who has made a massive leap under first-year head coach Mike Vrabel.

Maye led New England to an AFC East title, the No. 2 overall seed in the conference, and is a finalist for the MVP Award — something no Patriots player has achieved since former star quarterback Tom Brady in 2017.

Brady, who won six Super Bowls with New England, has praised the current team and Maye several times this season during his work with Fox Sports. On Monday, a reporter asked Maye what the best advice he’s ever received from Brady was.

“I’ve met Tom a few times. One of the best things he’s said is there are no shortcuts,” Maye said. “There are no shortcuts to putting in the work, and the proof is in the pudding. The shortcuts people take… it’s not worth it. Get the most out of what you put in. He’s been great at that and obviously showed it throughout his career.”

The Patriots selected Maye with the No. 3 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. The team went 4–13 during his rookie season. Now, a year later, they finished 14–3, strung together three postseason victories, and are one win away from a seventh Lombardi Trophy — which would give them the most in NFL history.

Maye completed 72.0% of his passes this season for 4,394 yards, 31 touchdowns, and eight interceptions, while adding 450 rushing yards and nine touchdowns.
