Police have arrested a man after they allegedly found a sophisticated hydroponic cannabis grow house hidden beneath a concrete floor at a property on the northern Gold Coast.
On January 21, detectives allegedly found 24 mature cannabis plants, 20 immature plants and 10.5 kilograms of the drug in heat sealed bags on the Coulter Road property in Willow Vale, which they said was also kitted out with drying rooms and a packing area.
Willow Vale is a mostly rural area on the very northern tip of the Gold Coast.
A 45-year-old man was charged with producing, supplying and possessing dangerous drugs, as well as stealing and possessing items used in the commission of crime.
Video released by the police shows a scissor lift that retracts into what appears to be an underground bunker. Other shots show a room full of what they allege is cannabis plants, bathed in yellow light.
The video also shows the tops of trees hanging out to dry in a small room with a dehumidifier.
A second Willow Vale man, aged 45, was also arrested on the same day on similar charges following a separate investigation.
Police say they found a hydroponic growing set-up in a tent inside a bedroom at a Ruffles Road property, as well as cannabis and a prescription drugs. A crossbow, a butterfly knife, ammunition and fireworks were also allegedly found.
The 45-year-old is expected appear at the Southport Magistrates court on February 18, while the 48-year-old is expected there on February 26.
