MVP-winning quarterback Lamar Jackson isn’t going anywhere, but the Baltimore Ravens could use added quarterback depth.
That’s where the 2026 NFL draft comes in. While the Ravens won’t pick up a top-named quarterback such as Fernando Mendoza or Carson Beck, they could draft some assurance to support Jackson if he gets injured during the season.
In a Saturday, February 28, feature for USA Today, Jacob Camenker rattles off his 2026 NFL draft picks, and regarding the Ravens, he likes Jalon Daniels out of Kansas, projecting that the team will take him No. 252 overall in the seventh round.
“The Ravens could stand to add young depth behind Lamar Jackson with Tyler Huntley set to be a free agent and Cooper Rush struggling as the team’s backup last season,” Camenker states of the quarterback situation.

“Daniels spent six seasons at Kansas and enjoyed his best season in 2025, completing 62.1% of his passes for 2,531 yards, 22 touchdowns and seven interceptions while adding 404 yards and four scores on the ground. The 23-year-old’s best trait is his mobility, but perhaps he can turn into a backup-caliber passer with some time to develop behind Jackson,” he adds.
In the NFL’s profile of Daniels states that he “hasn’t shown the ability to consistently dissect defenses and win with accuracy from the pocket. He has a decent arm but lacks consistent mechanics, timing and three-level ball placement. The vast majority of his interceptions were due to a lack of coverage recognition. Daniels’ running ability helps, but he appears ill-prepared for an NFL passing game.”

The profile also warns that the sixth-year senior “was unable to live up to the promise shown earlier in his career.”
A few of his strengths include that he has an “above-average vision and cut quickness as a runner” and “moves the sticks as a scrambler and on designed runs.”
