Real Madrid announced the transfer of one of its now former players through an official statement shared on its social media account and website.
“Real Madrid C. F. and Getafe C. F. have reached an agreement for the transfer of our player Peter Federico,” the statement began.
“Peter Federico arrived at Real Madrid in January 2016 at the age of 13. Since then, he played in all the categories of our youth academy until he played more than a hundred games with Castilla.
“In 2020 they were proclaimed champions of the Youth League. He made his debut with Real Madrid’s first team in 2021 and played three official games. In the last 2023-2024 season he was on loan at Valencia C. F. since January,” it added, before concluding that Real Madrid “wishes him and his family the best of luck in this new stage of his life”.
Over at Getafe, the La Liga club announced that Peter penned a four-year deal which expires on June 30, 2028.
Noting his past as a product of Madrid’s famed La Fabrica academy, it noted that the 21-year-old is an international “with the lower categories of the Dominican Republic national team” who has been called up to participate at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
As has been well-publicized, Real Madrid has blocked its players such as new signing Kylian Mbappe from taking part in the Games’ football tournament, where countries field U23 sides that can also boast a few veterans.
On Twitter, Getafe wrote, “We can’t wait to see you run down the wing, Peter!”
Yet that is something that his new employers and their fans might have to hold tight for considering his Olympics participation.
As a winger, it was always going to be difficult for Peter to break through to Carlo Ancelotti’s first team in the Spanish capital amid competition from the likes of Mbappe, Kylian Mbappe and Rodrygo to name but a few world class stars.
Last season, however, he got his biggest taste of life in the elite with 10 league appearances at Valencia which also took in a start against Madrid’s bitter rivals FC Barcelona at the Montjuic Stadium.
