Rehab Addict host Nicole Curtis is speaking out after HGTV pulled all episodes of the show from its platforms.

On Wednesday, February 11, RadarOnline shared footage of Curtis, 49, using the n-word while completing a renovation project for the popular home restoration series. The slur was caught on camera but did not air when the episode was broadcast in June 2025, per RadarOnline.

Warner Bros. Discovery-owned HGTV promptly nixed future episodes of Rehab Addict, which were expected to premiere on Wednesday, and removed past episodes from HBO Max and Discovery+.

“HGTV was recently made aware of an offensive racial comment made during the filming of Rehab Addict. Not only is language like this hurtful and disappointing to our viewers, partners, and employees — it does not align with the values of HGTV,” HGTV told Us Weekly in a statement on Wednesday. “Accordingly, we have removed the series from all HGTV platforms. We remain dedicated to fostering a culture of respect and inclusion across our content and our workplace.”

After news broke of the show’s cancelation, Curtis posted to her Instagram Stories on Wednesday, “There is more to this, but my family comes first and I need to be mom right now more than anything else. .. I will take the time to be as I’ve always been with you, transparent and honest. TMZ called me as I had just turned my phone on after being at school – I said this briefly – but there is more…”

In a subsequent Instagram Story, Curtis shared a text message exchange with TMZ in which she addressed her use of the racial slur and Rehab Addict’s abrupt cancelation.

“Regarding HGTV, I’m grateful for the 15-year journey we’ve shared. It’s been a meaningful chapter, but my focus isn’t on my career,” she wrote to a TMZ reporter. “My focus, at this moment, is rightfully on my relationships and my community – the people who truly know my character and where my heart is.”

Curtis continued, “I want to be clear: the word in question is wrong and not part of my vocabulary and never has been, and I apologize to everyone.”

“As discussed, I’m a mom and I was doing mom things all day and unplugged,” Curtis concluded. “I realize my shows were airing, but my family is my priority and I’m just catching up to all this now.”

In resurfaced footage from the set of Rehab Addict, published by RadarOnline on Wednesday, Curtis was filmed using the n-word while completing a renovation in Wyoming.

“Why? It’s the last one,” she said in the clip as she appeared to struggle with the renovation. “Oh, fart [n-word].”

Curtis appeared shocked by her use of the slur and asked the camera crew to delete the footage.

“What the f*** is that I just said?” she said. “Can you kill that?” she asked as someone in the background appeared to laugh.

Curtis then said, “F*** my life.”

Rehab Addict first premiered in 2010 on the DIY Network (now known as the Magnolia Network) before moving to HGTV for its fourth season in 2014.
