An out-of-control bushfire is threatening homes and blocking evacuation routes for residents in Mundaring.
The fire was first reported just after 2pm, sparking an emergency warning for people bounded by Great Eastern Highway, Doconing Road and Old Northam Road in Beechina.
Authorities say the fire is out of control and moving in a westerly direction, and have advised residents it is too late to safely leave.
Vision from the scene appears to show one abandoned house and one large shed have been engulfed by flames, and residents attempting to evacuate their horses as the fire burns close to paddocks.
It is believed to have burned through upwards of 60 hectares.
Authorities have warned locals to follow their bushfire safety plans as it burns closer to homes and properties.
“You are in danger and need to act immediately to survive. There is a threat to lives and homes,” an alert said.
The closure of Great Eastern Highway between Carter Road and Doconing Road has impacted evacuation routes, and firefighters have warned locals to stay home while they fight the blaze.
Trucks have become backed up to the hard shoulder of the Great Eastern Highway due to the closure.
Firefighters are on the scene and aerial support is actively fighting the fire.
