The Kansas City Chiefs started off the 2025 NFL season with a tough Week 1 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers in Brazil by a final score of 27-21.

It was a good game, but the Chargers were able to make more plays throughout the contest. Also, the Chiefs saw wide receiver Xavier Worthy go down with an injury early on in the game and never quite looked like the Super Bowl favorite they have been for years.

While it is just Week 1, there has been a lot of concern coming out about Kansas City. Another strong statement has been made about the Chiefs, this time coming from former NFL superstar tight end Rob Gronkowski.

49ers Facing Christian McCaffrey Concern Amid Injury Crisis

Gronkowski, who did a lot of winning throughout his NFL career, is obviously not a big fan of Kansas City.

During an appearance on the “Up & Adams” show with Kay Adams, Gronkowski did not hold back on the Chiefs.

“If you punch these guys in the face… they’re going to fold,” he said.

Those words make it very clear that Gronkowski believes Kansas City is more beatable now than it has been for awhile. Patrick Mahomes still makes them a potential Super Bowl contender, but the Chiefs may not have what it takes to win at that level this season.

Of course, all of that talk could be silenced very quickly. Many times over the last few years, Kansas City has faced skepticism and has been able to overcome it and win a high level.

Next up for the Chiefs will be a Super Bowl rematch at home in Week 2 against the Philadelphia Eagles. That game will offer them a chance to draw back some of the panic that fans and the media are surrounding them with. If they can beat the Eagles, the negative coverage about them will die down.

There is no reason of overreact to a Week 1 game. One game does not dictate an entire season.

Kansas City has been in this position in the past. Gronkowski may not be the Chiefs’ ability to handle punches and still pull out wins, but the team will have a chance to say something about that over the next few weeks.
