The Seattle Seahawks’ passing game is functioning as well as anyone could have hoped after the team added quarterback Sam Darnold and wide receiver Cooper Kupp during the offseason and moved on from QB Geno Smith as well as long-time pass-catchers DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett.
But despite the Seahawks’ offensive prowess and 5-2 record heading into a Week 9 game against the Washington Commanders, Bill Barnwell of ESPN suggested Seattle add another wideout to the position group ahead of the NFL’s November 4 trade deadline.
“The Seahawks are obviously thrilled with Jaxon Smith-Njigba, and Cooper Kupp is making an impact with his blocking, but there are always going to be questions about Kupp’s ability to stay healthy in his 30s,” Barnwell wrote Thursday. “We’ll see more Tory Horton in the second half, but getting a veteran wideout who can block well as the third or fourth option would track.”

Seattle can do better than that if it wants, as Barnwell also noted Thursday that he won’t be surprised if Chicago Bears receiver DJ Moore is available in the days to come.
“If there’s a prominent player who could unexpectedly make sense as a potential trade candidate at the deadline for me, it’s Moore. The 28-year-old is starting a four-year, $110 million extension next year, but he hasn’t found a consistent role in Ben Johnson’s offense; he is averaging a career-low 47.3 receiving yards per game,” Barnwell continued. “A trade during the offseason would make more sense, but I wouldn’t be shocked if Moore became the odd man out in Chicago.”
Moore has never been a Pro Bowler, though he probably should have earned the honor at least once or twice with four seasons of 1,000-plus receiving yards on his resumé. Moore has accumulated 584 receptions for 7,862 yards and 36 touchdowns over the course of his eight-year professional career.
